ABSTRACT

Dental trauma may lead to tooth fracture, color change, loss of teeth, function and aesthetic problems. Root fracture is a injury which affects the pulp, dentin, cementum and periodontal ligament. This injury is comprised 0.5%-7% of all dental trauma. Classification of root fractures is based on location of fracture and degree of dislocation of the coronal segment. Horizontal root fracture occurs often in the middle-third of the root and rarely at the apical-third.

This case report describes 10-year-old boy referred to the Pediatric Dentistry Department complaining of pain in his upper left central incisor and treatment of horizontal root fracture at the level of the middle third which has healed spontaneously without endodontic treatment.
