ABSTRACT

The surgical ablative treatment of maxillofacial cancer, congenital deformities and trauma may cause facial disfigurement and consequently psychologic disturbances. Patients may be restored using modern micro vascular flaps, but some patients may not receive such surgery because of too many reasons. The application of the principles of osseointegration to the craniofacial skeleton can offer the patient with defects from trauma or ablative cancer surgery a functional and aesthetic restoration, with minimal morbidity. A 13 years old female patient received two extraoral implants after surgical resection that lost right ear due to a gas cooker burn. After clinical control, there was no any complications and infection in implant area. In this case the use of implants allows for proper replacement and remove by the patient and accepting of an ear prosthesis by the patient.

Keywords: Extraoral implant, auricular prosthesis.
