ABSTRACT
Breast abscess and mastitis manifest itself as erythema and increase in local temperature. While still small lesions are treated by administering a broad spectrum antibiotic. Abscess drainage may be necessary in patients who do not respond to antibiotics. Majority of the patients with breast abscess in childhood are in the neonatal period. Breast abscess are defined mostly in the neonatal age group but rarely seen in older children. In this paper, a 12 year old girl with breast abscess is presented and it is aimed to draw attention to breast abscess that is infrequent in childhood except the neonatal period. The patient recovered without any complications within two weeks with antibiotic treatment and draining of the abscess by a needle aspiration.
