ABSTRACT
Transfusion related acute lung injury is an uncommon complication presenting with dyspnea, fever and hypotension. Its incidence is 0.04% to 0.16% per patient administered transfusion. It is a clinical entity that can frequently be confused with pump lung in patients who are performed cardiopulmonary bypass. In this article the differential diagnosis of pump lung and acute lung injury developing after transfusion of plasma is discussed.
