ABSTRACT
Chronic myeloproliferative disorders except chronic myeloid leukemia, include polycythemia vera, agnogenic myeloid mataplasia and essential thrombocythemia. No specific cytogenetic abnormality was presented in these groups of disorders. In disease progression, the cytogenetic abnormalities were reported as important. In our study thirty-eight patients (fourteen polycythemia vera, eight agnogenic myeloid mataplasia and sixteen essential thrombocythemia) were presented with the cytogenetic results (obtained from peripheral blood and/or bone marrow). Ten female and four male patients (the medium age was 53.2) were diagnosed as polycythemia vera. Four male and four female patients (the median age was 56.1) were diagnosed as agnogenic myeloid metaplasia. Nine male, seven female patients (the median age was 31.9) were diagnosed as essential thrombocythemia. In thirty out of thirtyeight cases, we observed cytogenetic analyses result. In twenty-nine cases, normal cytogenetic results were received. In one case, who had polycytemia vera diagnosis, we had 46, XX, del (17) (q23-24) cytogenetic result. Only in this case, secondary acute myeloid leukemia was observed in the disease progression. Similar results were seen in literature in the disease progression of the chronic myeloproliferative disorders. So cytogenetic analyses were necessary in all cases in chronic myeloproliferative disorder diagnosis.
