ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to investigate whether pattern visual evoked potentials and pattern electroretinogram responses originated from the same action potential. Twenty three eyes of 12 healthy subjects were included in the study. Simultaneous pattern visual evoked potentials and pattern electroretinogram responses were recorded by using three check sizes (One degree, 30 minutes and 15 minutes). The correlations in the amplitude and latency values between N75, P100 and N135 peaks in pattern visual evoked potentials and N35, P50 and N95 peaks in pattern electroretinogram were investigated. Additionly, the correlations between each peak in both tests between check sizes were investigated. As a result, almost all correlations in amplitude and latency for N35-N75, P50-P100 and N135-N95 comparisons were statistically insignificant. However, the correlations in each peak between different check sizes for pattern visual evoked potentials and pattern electroretinogram were statistically significant, with a much more statistical significance in pattern visual evoked potentials. These results indicated that pattern visual evoked potentials and pattern electroretinogram responses were not consequences of the same action potential.
