ABSTRACT

Colonoscopy is a procedure for differential diagnosis and treatment of colon diseases. It is painful and uncomfortable. Sedation is very important for colonoscopy to be successfully completed. In this study, we aimed to compare the efficacy and adverse effects of propofol-fentanyl, propofol-ketamine and propofol- remifentanyl combinations. This prospective randomized study was performed on ASA I-II, 93 patients who underwent colonoscopy procedure. Patients received to propofol-ketamine (n:29) (Group PK), propofol-fentanyl (n: 33) (Group PF) or propofol-remifentanil (n=31) (Group PR). All patients received study drugs till ramsey sedation scale of patients titrated to 3-4. Hemodynamic data, peripheral oxygen saturation, recovey and sedation times, endoscopist and patient satisfaction, side effects of the agents were recorded. Demographic data, hemodynamic data, sedation and recovery times and patient satisfactory were found similar in the three groups( p > 0,05 for all comparisons ). Endoscopist satisfaction was % 100 in Group PK( p: 0.027). Therefore, propofol-ketamine combination for the colonoscopy might be preferable.
