ABSTRACT
Obstructive adenoid hypertrophy is a common disorder especially in children. In this study, pre-operative findings of 50 cases who underwent adenoidectomy procedure due to obstructive adenoid hypertrophy, were compared with per-operative and post-operative findings. Pre-operative lateral nasopharynx roentgenograms were obtained from all patients and adenoid-nasopharynx ratios were calculated. Postoperative weights of the adenoid were calculated and compared to the adenoid-nasopharynx ratio. In conclusion, it is thought there is no significant correlation between the adenoid-nasopharynx ratio and adenoid weight. The adenoid-nasopharynx ratio results above 0.85 were thought to have obstructive adenoid hypertrophy.
