ABSTRACT
Traumatically loosened, displaced or avulsed permanent teeth should be splinted to support periodontal healing as a part of treatment process. Many different types of splinting have been described in the literature. Recent studies have revealed that the ideal splint type is the flexible splints which permit passive and physiological tooth mobility. In this article splint types used in traumatized teeth and their principles of use are reviewed based on the current literature.
