ABSTRACT

Intramural duodenal haematoma (IDH) is a very rare seen complication of healthy adults after blunt abdominal trauma which can be easily overlooked and usually treated with conservative approaches. Intramural duodenal haematoma’s are most often treated non-operatively. This post-traumatic complication may occur in cases with bleeding disorders even after minor traumas. The first and most important step in the diagnosis of intramural duodenal haematoma is suspicion of this complication. In this case report, a 20-year-old male subject who was admitted to emergency service with symptoms of gastrointestinal obstruction on 6th day after blunt abdominal trauma and diagnosed as intramural duodenal haematoma. The patient was treated successfully with conservative methods and discharged 14 days later in healthy condition.
