ABSTRACT

The major causative factor of failed restoration is a result of marginal leakage. This slow process produces a progressive undermining ultimately leading to a failed restoration. Unfortunately, microleakage is still one of the most frequent problem associated with composite restorations, especially in the Class II cervical margin. This problem has been largely demostrated in vitro, mainly below the cementoenamel junction (CEJ). This microleakage contributes to the high incidence of secondary caries in cervical region and accounts for many clinically failed restorations.
