ABSTRACT

In this study we aimed to present the findings of optical coherence tomography and ultrasonic biomicroscopy in Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease. A 38-year-old man admitted to our clinic with symptom of bilateral vision loss, and his visual acuity was finger counting at 50 cm in the right eye, and 0.5 in the left eye. Choroidal effusion and serous retinal detachment were determined in ocular ultrasonography. There were retinal edema and serous retinal detachment in optical coherence tomographic examination. Ultrasonic biomicroscopic examination revealed mild ciliary edema and anterior chamber reaction. After treatment with systemic corticosteroid, resolution was observed in his eyes, and these findings were supported with optical coherence tomography, fluorescein angiography and ultrasonic biomicroscopy objectively. Optical coherence tomography and ultrasonic biomicroscopy are pretty useful techniques in the follow-up of the clinical course of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease. Optical coherence tomography and ultrasonic biomicroscopy may help in the diagnosis of this rare disease, especially in cases in whom fluorescein angiography cannot be performed.
