ABSTRACT

Focal osseous dysplasia is an asymptomatic malformation with a benign character and belongs to the group of fibro-osseous lesions. Although the etiology and pathogenesis of focal osseous dysplasia are unknown, it is believed to be originating histogenetically from periodontal ligament. It usually appears in dentate or edentulous posterior mandibular region. In this report, focal osseous dysplasia diagnosed histopathologically and radiologically in the edentulous right mandibular posterior region of a 46-year-old female patient is presented. The lesion was enucleated under local anesthesia. No relapsing pathology was detected in the postoperative follow up period of six months.
