ABSTRACT

Ectodermal dysplasia is a hereditary disease that effects the tissues, orginates from ectoderm. This disease effects not only the skin, saliva, sebasseous and sweat glands, but also hair, nail and teeth.

In this case report, the dental treatment of a case of ectodermal dysplasia, who reffered to Gülhane Military Medical Academy, Dental Science Center, Department of Pedodontics, was presented.

Radiographic evaluation revealed that several teeth germs were absent. Absence of the maxillary lateral incisors and canines, there was a diastema between the central incisors.

After closing the diestema by applying orthodontic force to the central incisors, the decidious canines were reshaped as maxillary lateral incisors. A child prosthesis was applied to the mandible, in order to compensate the absence of the lower incisors and to provide adequate function and esthetics the patient is still being followed.
