ABSTRACT
In this study we investigated the correlation between central corneal thickness and intraocular pressure, axial length, and mean deviation and pattern standard deviation values of visual field indices in patients with ocular hypertension. The patients with ocular hypertension were selected by a single physician among the patients admitted to the Ophthalmology Unit of Middle East Technical University Health Center for routine eye examination during 2008. Ninety eyes of 90 patients randomly selected were included in this study according to the Helsinki Declaration and Ethics Criteria of the Middle East Technical University. Routine eye examination, measurements of the central corneal thickness and axial length, and visual field test were applied to the subjects. Mean deviation and pattern standard deviation values of visual field indices were used in the analysis. Statistically significant correlations were found between central corneal thickness and intraocular pressure (p=0.005), mean deviation (p=0.03) and axial length (p=0.03). Central corneal thickness, intraocular pressure, axial length and mean deviation value of visual field indices are significant parameters to be used in the follow-up of patients with ocular hypertension.
