In today's World of rapid technologic development and social changes, motivation theories have become more important particularly with the growing interest for management sciences. The main reason of this is that the motivation is one of the main determinator of human behaviour and performance.
Manpower is the most important component of production for most organizations. This feature is much more important for organizations with labour-oriented technology.
By regarding hospitals as organizations with labour-oriented technologies to provide health care of the society, the success of a hospital depends on its manpower to reach certain goals. There are several professionals working in a hospital. To motivate these groups towards the hospital's aims their expectations should be known.
The purpose of this study is to provide the information to the hospital directors about the motivation of the hospital staff by determining the expectations from their institution at a trainning hospital in Ankara. For this purpose, 90 health-care personnel were interviewed by applying a descriptive questionnaire as a data collection tool.
The results of the study indicate that the factors which motivate the health personnel are different in accordance with the professional groups and the job durations.
Since the most important component of health-care is manpower, establishing a management system basicly concerned with health workers is the most important factor for reaching a successful healthcare level.
