ABSTRACT

A 72-year-old-man who complained of the swelling on his eyelid had a lesion that had a structure on its surface resembling crust on his left eyelid. Atypical cells were detected in cytologic examination of the specimen obtained from the superficial part of the lesion. The lesion was removed by pentagonal eyelid resection, and histopathologic examination of the excised specimen revealed sebaceous gland carcinoma originating from meibomian gland. The diagnosis of sebaceous gland carcinoma, which usually has a delayed diagnosis due to resembling to benign lesions, should be kept in mind in differential evaluation of the eyelid lesions.
