Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio is usually considered as an indicator of sub-clinical inflammation. In the recent studies it is observed that neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio can be used to calculate the morbidity and mortality. In this study we aimed to describe the reference values of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in different age groups. Patients’ records were achieved with the help of Hospital Information System for a year, and 71.897 measurement results which have erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels within the normal range were included the study. Patients were classified under 11 groups (0-1, 1-2, 2-5, 5-10 age and the rest as decades) according to the age range. Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio values were calculated by dividing the neutrophil count to lymphocyte count parameter from complete blood count test results. It is found that there were statistically significant differences in eight groups of 11 among the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio values when male and female patients’ results compared. In conclusion, the data obtained from this study may be helpful to clinicians to interpretation of complete blood test is considered.
