The purpose of this study was to develop an effective method for debonding ceramic orthodontic brackets with two different power Nd:YAG laser. In this study 30 freshly extracted upper first premolar human teeth were used and randomly divided into three groups of 10. Group I was the control group, with no laser application performed; Group II, Nd:YAG laser with 2W for 5 seconds with the scanning method; Group III, Nd:YAG laser with 3W for 5 seconds with the scanning method. The teeth were embedded in self cure acrylic in a vertical position so that the crowns were exposed. Polycrystalline ceramic brackets were bonded to all teeth with a standard procedure and the teeth in group II and III were scanned with an Nd:YAG laser and then subjected to shear bond strength (SBS) test. The adhesive remnant index (ARI) was then evaluated for each specimen. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance and the post hoc Tukey tests, with the significance level set at 0.05. Mean shear bond values for each group were as follows: I, 13.30 ±1.05; II, 8.25 ±0.69; III, 5.97 ±0.77. While group I (control group) showed the highest SBS values, group III (Nd:YAG laser with 3W group) showed the lowest SBS values and a statistically significant difference was observed between groups. The evaluation of ARI scores demonstrated more adhesive was left on the enamel surface with Group I. The current findings indicate that it is possible to benefit from Nd:YAG laser with appropriate parameters for debonding ceramic orthodontic brackets
