This study was conducted descriptively to identify the nursing interventions in the department of interventional radiology. The research sample included the nursing works in the department of the interventional radiology of the hospitals in Ankara. The selection of the sample was not carried out in the research. The study included 31 nurses accepting to participate in the research. . By benefiting from the related literature for data collection, the questionnaire form, prepared by the researcher, was used. The ranges of the frequency, average, standard deviation and the percentage numbers were utilized for data assessment. According to the findings of the research, it was identified that the nurses provided the interventions more often information ,education and reguires technical skills to the patient before the process. During the process, it was identified that the nurses mostly performed the interventions for creating the sterile atmosphere and helping the physicians, monitoring the patient, administering the drugs which were necessary in the application. After the process, it was identified that the nurses performed the other interventional activities such as monitoring the patient’s vital findings, safety transportation of the patient, bleeding control and the patient mobilization. It was identified that the nurses accepted the nursing interventions pre-during-post process cited in the literature as the responsibility in the high rate. It can be said that awareness of the nurses on duties of the interventional radiology nurses have risen with this study. We determined that the interventional radiology nurses perform a portion of the interventions defined in the literature, yet are not aware of many of the interventions expected from them. Nurses at interventional radiology department should establish and implement nursing care program with a professional approach by taking medical history of the patient and performing its holistic evaluation, in addition to performing operations requiring technical skills. Development of periodical in-service trainings and certification programs related to interventional radiology nursing for the nurses working at interventional radiology departments is considered to be essential.
