Reliability of the Pascal dynamic contour tonometer parameters

Aim of the present study was to test the reproducibility of the dynamic contour tonometer. Thirty healthy eyes of the 30 adult subjects with ages between 20 and 32 years were included into the study. Before the study, a thorough ophthalmological examination was performed on all the subjects. Intraocular pressure of the subjects was measured with the Pascal dynamic contour tonometer three times a day for three days, all at the same time of the day. A period of 5 minutes was left between the measurements. All the measurements were performed by the same and experienced user. In statistical analysis the intra-day and inter-day reproducibility for the same user was assessed by calculating the intraclass correlation coefficient and standard deviations. Intra-day reproducibility of the intraocular pressure of the subjects measured by the Pascal dynamic contour tonometer has been found as 0.931, 0.948 and 0.955 for the first, second and third days, respectively, and inter-day reproducibility has been found to be 0.918. Pascal dynamic contour tonometer, which is used to measure the intraocular pressure is a reproducible method.
