Retinal capillary hemangioma is commonly observed in von Hippel-Lindau disease, however it may also occur sporadically. Argon laser photocoagulation enhanced firstly by oral and later by intravenous hypericin was applied to a case of retinal capillary hemangioma after an unsuccessful trial of argon laser photocoagulation alone. Exudation around the lesion decreased and fibrotic component of the lesion increased, and visual acuity reached to 0.9 after treatment. We conclude that argon laser photocoagulation enhanced by hypericin may be a successful choice of treatment in retinal capillary hemangiomas.
