Evalution of the Patients with Malignant Diseases at the GMMA Hospital İin the Year of 2001

Cancer is still a worldwide important cause of mortality and morbidity. Cancer types differ among populations and races. At the pathology department of our hospital,between January 01 2001 and December 31 2001 totally 23203 specimens were evaluated with 948 malignity diagnosis. Five hundred seventy eight of them (%60.97) were male and 370 (%39.03) were female. Irrespective of gender skin cancer (melanoma included) had the first place (%11.7),inorder,breast cancer the second (%9.4) and lung cancer the third place (%8.12). The most com mon cancers in men were skin cancer (%14.1),lung cancer (%10.2) and lymphomas (%7.78). In women, the most common three cancer types were breast (%24.02), skin (%8.1) and endometrium cancer (%7.29).
